Michigan football has been much more active in the transfer portal during the past week. That’s likely due to the transfer portal being closed for departures.
Now, the Wolverines can focus on adding to their roster instead of retaining the players currently on it. That was the focus for much of the spring and it worked out well. Michigan football didn’t lose a single starter to the transfer portal.
Keon Sabb and DJ Waller were pushing for starting roles, but that was the worst of the damage. Michigan football has also added two wide receivers and a kicker. That’s in addition to Josh Prebe and Jaishawn Barham in the winter transfer portal window, who will each start.
Michigan has been in touch with multiple defensive tackles, cornerbacks, and safeties. So you can tell those are viewed as clear positions of need. They are even targeting a former Spartan and in-state recruiting target, Jaden Mangham at safety.
However, another name to watch is Elijhah Badger from Arizona State. According to Hayes Fawcett of On3.com, Badger has heard from Michigan football, among many others, since entering the portal.

Badger had 142 receptions with the Sun Devils for 1,640 yards and 10 touchdowns. He’s a former top-200 recruit overall and entered the portal on April 20th.
After adding two wide receivers, it’s fair to wonder if Michigan football is still interested. Fawcett isn’t clear if Michigan is still in touch with Badger. He’s got visits set to Arizona and Florida. He also visited Washington, but it’s another name to keep on the radar to see if anything develops.
