India have been simply outstanding with the ball and in the field today and the circumstances of this performance makes it even more impressive. They were down in the dumps last evening after taking a shellacking from Ben Duckett and were staring at a long toil. That didn’t come to pass though because India, despite being handicapped by the withdrawal of R Ashwin, turned up today with an inspired bowling effort.
Kuldeep Yadav, who bore the brunt of the onslaught, bounced back remarkably. Bumrah began the turnaround with the wicket of Joe Root and the dismissal of the lynchpin triggered a rather spectacular collapse. Stokes, with an 89-ball 41, was the only one to show the stomach for a fight as England were sent packing for just 319 after being 224/2 at one stage earlier today. India will come out to bat with a 126-run lead in their kitty.
THAT is some start to the afternoon session
