Davante Adams makes his intentions clear about sticking with the Raiders in near future: 'If I wanted to be gone, I’d be gone by now'
Trevor Ruszkowski-USA TODAY Sports

Good news for Raiders fans: star wide receiver Davante Adams isn’t going anywhere. Lately, there have been a lot of whispers around the industry that he is looking for a trade to another contender team ahead of the 2024 NFL Draft.

However, just like Brandon Aiyuk earlier this week, the Las Vegas Raiders star receiver has dismissed all the trade rumors and the ultimate question about his future. During a conversation with The Athletic’s Tashan Reed, Adams addressed the rumors about his potential move this offseason.

If I wanted to be gone, I'd be gone by now... This is where I want to be. Said Adams at his third annual youth football camp, in Las Vegas.

The trade rumors of Adams first came into sight in February, when his former teammate Aaron Rodgers was trying to convince the veteran to join the New York Jets so they could be a dynamic duo just like in old times. In fact, the Jets even tried to pursue Adams at last season’s trade deadline.

Just last week, All Steelers Talk discussed a potential trade deal with the Raiders and the Pittsburgh Steelers, who are in the market looking for a veteran receiver to pair with George Pickens. But all the rumors went downhill when the star himself declared that he wanted to stay with the Raiders.

Antonio Pierce and Davante Adams’ unstoppable dynamic leading the Raiders forward

Following the 2023 season, there have been speculations suggesting that Adams isn’t quite happy with the Raiders offense, especially the franchise’s lack of a solid starter in the lead. But Antonio Pierce’s takeover seems to have changed things significantly.

In the middle of last season, after a shameful loss, the Raiders fired Josh McDaniels and promoted Pierce as the interim coach. He has now been officially promoted as head coach for the 2024 season, given the team’s success under him. The biggest supporter of Pierce has been the six-time Pro Bowler, who also expressed his immense happiness with this decision.

However, this doesn’t neglect the fact that the Raiders are moving forward without any lead for their starting quarterback position.

They hold the No. 13 draft pick, and unless they trade with other teams with the first few picks, it might be tough for them to pick a potential player from the draft, ready to take on the lead of the offense, which is truly a daunting job.
